I literally stumbled across this most beautiful of sights today as I finished up the most amazing “trail” run between the Central MTR station and the top of Victoria Peak.
I was so awe-struck and touched by what I was seeing that I asked the security guard what was going on. She told me that Sunday was a “holiday” and these were all Filipinos gathering to spend the day socializing, eating, and relaxing. It was amazing. They had literally taken over this bank ground floor lobby as a public park. Kudos to HSBC for allowing this to happen.
This is a perfect example of the urban surprise and delight that can occur when a building is designed as a net at the pedestrian level, rather than a fortresses.
